Doyle H. Wingard, 83, of Emlenton, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 1, 2026 at Shippenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Doyle was born in Shippenville on November 7, 1942. He was the son of the late George and Mae Whitling Wingard.
He attended school in Shippenville. He was a long time member of the Heavy Highway and Piledrivers Union Local #274 in Pittsburgh. He was an avid car enthusiast and his favorite was the 1957 Pontiac Bonneville. Doyle was a skilled carpenter and a jack of all trades, always willing to help family and friends with building projects. He was a NASCAR fan and looked forward to family picnics, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Bottz Wingard, whom he married in the Knox United Methodist Church on August 18, 1962. Mrs. Wingard passed away on August 29, 2006.
Surviving are three children, Vicky Gates and her husband, Randy, of Emlenton, Adam Wingard and his wife, Briana, and Casey Wingard and his wife, Kelly, all of Shippenville; three grandchildren, Ashley Kellerman and her husband, Mathew, of Emlenton, Devin Gates and his wife, Brittney, of Knox, and Avaleigh Wingard of Shippenville; four great grandchildren, Ariella and Mason Kellerman, and Bennett and Lincoln Gates; four brothers, Charles Wingard and his wife, Kathy, Paul Wingard and his wife, Beth, and Les Wingard, all of Shippenville, and Cliff Wingard of Cranberry; two sisters, Mary Lou Hanby of Jamestown, NY, and Wendy Tharan and her husband, Randy, of Knox; his long time friend, Betty Johnson of Emlenton, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a brother-in-law.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” Wingard, two brothers, Kevin Wingard and Billy Wingard, and a sister, Carole Wingard Showers.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 12 Noon. A funeral service will follow at Noon from the funeral home with Pastor Phillip Thomas of the Meadville Bible Baptist Church, officiating.
